I don't know, I find containers really useful, what makes you say they're oversold? I get that they add a little complexity, but there's so much to gain from using them - it makes it dead simple to be sure you have exactly the same environment when running a program, from the OS to the libraries installed.
Definitely agree with this when it comes to small deployments - containers are oversold.
